ASR - Alkali Silica Reaction
Alkali Silicate reaction occurs when the aggregates of the concrete form a gel coating as a result of a reaction with alkali. The coating on the aggregate takes up more room and therefore similar to rebar oxidization puts pressure on the concrete matrix to expand, spall and eventually split and fail. Kryton Krystol® can stop the alkali from entering the concrete which is transported into the pores with water.
